Grant Development

Planning to support a long-term program involves locating funding from many sources. Once you've identified your special collection, understand your audience and trained your staff, the only thing left is to secure funding. Finding and applying for grants is no small task. OCLC Western Digital Programs and Preservation staff have years of experience writing and managing grant funded project. Outlined below are resources available through the grant development process, or contact us to help you secure the funding you need.

National grants

Public and school librarians
National Digital Newspaper Program: New guidelines are now available.

Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS): Read about the numerous opportunities within such funding categories as Digital Collections/Tools and Partnerships.

All applications for the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, 21st Century Museum Professionals, and National Leadership Grants are now required to be submitted online through Grants.gov. A one-time Grants.gov registration is necessary, and it is a multi-step process that generally cannot be completed in a single day.

Grant recipients

Three Washington schools receive Laura Bush Foundation grants

Three Washington State schools have been awarded grants from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries. They are:

 

  • Lake Roosevelt High School in Coulee Dam
  • Van Asselt Elementary School in Seattle
  • Wishkah Valley School in Aberdeen

The mission of the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries is to support the education of our nation’s children by providing funds to update, extend and diversify the book and print collections of America’s school libraries. The schools receive grants of up to $5,000 to create or expand their library book collections.
